******************************************************
Of course, host Chris Harrison says that The Bachelorette Season 11 is “the most controversial season ever.” How often have we heard that?
“A whole lot of crazy” is next, as Chris talks about Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise. Some of the crazies include both Ashleys from The Bachelor Chris Soules’ season. Oh–and Clare. It looks pretty hot–and sleazy?
After clips of all the drama of the season, Tanner responds to Ian‘s statements about the rest of the guys being lame and telling fart jokes. He says they also had deep conversations, and he didn’t give them a chance. He adds that Ian should apologize to Kaitlyn, that she isn’t shallow–but then some dude defends Ian, agreeing with him. (Dang, I can’t remember his name. He gets called out on what a short time he was even there!) Okay, it’s Corey. Yeah, he was there like five minutes! He feels a lot of Kaitlyn’s decisions weren’t good. The audience and guys disagree–and so do I. I think she took the process super seriously!
Ian wants the chance to talk to Kaitlyn, getting up to take off his jacket, walking in front of the guys. “What are you doing?” asks Chris Harrison, as Ian gets on his knees in front of the guys. He says he regrets the things he said and the way he left. One of the guys asks if he’s proposing. Ha! Okay, cut it short, Ian. Yadda, yadda, yadda. He’s even sorry to America. How many times can he say it? JJ goes and hugs him. Joe and Tanner shake his hand. He gets applause, too. Sorry, dude. You’re still not going to be the next bachelor.
On to the next controversy: Clint. Corey speaks up again, he who was hardly there. He says that Clint changed after the first night. Clint says he’s not gay, but he and JJ were good friends. Corey says Clint alienated everyone else. Jonathan agrees. Tanner thinks Clint became stand-offish, too. JJ says whatever Clint is guilty of, he is, too. Chris Harrison then asks why JJ puts air quotes around everything! Seriously.
Chris H eyes Clint funny when he says he and Clint were “intellectually curious about each other.” He goes on about all they talked about. Kupah says great, but he’s not interested in hearing any more about their friendship. Kupah’s problem is with Nick showing up. Chris “Cupcake” and JJ say Kaitlyn owed it to herself to explore her relationship with Nick. Clint gets on to Josh for not trusting Kaitlyn to find who is right for her. Josh is upset that Kaitlyn said early on–before Nick–that she saw her husband in that room, then brought him in. An outsider.
Next up–JJ! He goes on stage with Chris. Clips show Kaitlyn liking him for a while. Then there’s the whole thing with Clint when JJ didn’t back him up. After Clint leaves, JJ was tearful. And the guys are laughing while watching the scene.
JJ says he deserves to be slapped in the face for how he treated Clint, and he regrets it. Chris H wonders what happened to JJ and Kaitlyn. He “lost momentum,” he says. Well, you blew it, basically, with the whole bromance thing, says the host. Jared says he liked JJ the more he was around him. Corey, who seems to know everything, feels that JJ changed after Clint left. JJ says the guys just got to know him better.
Then Chris H has an announcement about JJ “coming out”—being on Bachelor in Paradise. Whew, says JJ, who didn’t know what Chris H was going to say.
Next up is Ben Z, a “mountain of a man” on the hotseat. The gals love him! Although Ben Z had a connection with Kaitlyn, it just didn’t work out. Then they show the clip of him telling Kaitlyn about his mom dying and about him not crying about it–ever. Ben was blindsided when he was eliminated. He did say that he closed off some on the group date with the whole death scene, which was personal with Ben Z. Moving forward, he feels he can be more open in relationships. He admits that he was in love with Kaitlyn.
Chris H asks Ben Z if he still hasn’t cried since his mom died. No, still no. Wow.
Chris H says, judging from the audience, that he doesn’t think Ben Z will have trouble finding love.
Sweet Jared’s turn in the hotseat. The way he said goodbye to Kaitlyn–such a gentleman–still impressed me. Very touching. Jared says it’s tough looking back at those scenes. It wasn’t hard to fall in love with her. Chris H wonders if it’s confusing for Jared to watch the show, because there was obviously something between Jared and Kaitlyn. Jared’s not over her. He hears the Cranberries’ “Linger” song twice a day now since they danced to it!
Chris H notes that he likes the absence of Jared’s “spotty beard.” He really does look even more handsome, don’t ya think? Jared is also going to be on Bachelor in Paradise.
Ben H’s turn! The gals love his “boyish charm,” per Chris H. They discuss Ben’s feeling of being “unlovable” and how Kaitlyn validated him and told him that she was falling in love with him. Ben tells about the time Kaitlyn sneaked down to his and Shawn’s room in San Antonio. The three of them hung out for hours–without cameras. In the morning, after Ben came back from taking a shower, he did feel that he was an outsider at that point–and pulled back. (This is the incident where Kaitlyn told Shawn that she thought he was “the one.”)
Time for Kaitlyn to come out. Chris Harrison talks about issues the show has had over the years with what to show and what not to show–what crosses the boundaries. Kaitlyn talks about what’s not okay is the hate people have spread. She feels she can handle it, but it hurts her family. She has never worried about what people think about her, but it’s now thousands of comments–she gets death threats! Chris H reads some horrible tweets with insults toward Kaitlyn. OMG. How can people be so mean? The audience and the guys are shocked. Kaitlyn fights back tears as she gets a standing ovation.
Kaitlyn doesn’t understand how a mother can treat her like that, saying Kaitlyn isn’t a role model, when she has a child and is sending messages that everyone can see. Chris H says he would take Kaitlyn as a role model over anybody spewing such hate, being a cyber bully. He’s glad to call her his friend. Awww.
Next, Chris addresses Jared’s tearful goodbye. He wonders if having a cocktail party that night would have made a difference. Kaitlyn feels that they would have needed more time than that. She had thought he would be one of the four going to hometown dates, so she was surprised by it all, too.
Then there’s Ben H. He laughs as he sees their great memories. He does wonder why Shawn is the one who she told about Nick. She felt she had to because she was afraid he was going to leave, and he had issues with trust. Then there’s Nick. She says she put their friendship out of her mind when she went on The Bachelorette 2015. Jonathan says he was put off because she had said her husband was in the room before Nick got there. But didn’t he vote for Britt Nilsson, asks Kaitlyn. Corey says bringing Nick on was a slap in the face. Kaitlyn said he would have to be in her place to understand. JJ says it was obvious that she did have a connection with Nick. Kaitlyn shares with the guys that she did care about how the guys felt about Nick coming in, but they didn’t get to see how she struggled. Kaitlyn shares how hard it was to date all these guys at once and not make a mistake–AND have it televised. She dares THEM to do it!
Kaitlyn’s turn to say stuff to the guys. She asks Ryan M how he is–remember how drunk he got the first night of The Bachelorette Season 11? He brings her a rose on stage. She then asks Clint why he didn’t treat her like he treated JJ? Are they “complicated” or “official”? JJ doesn’t seem too thrilled with that joke. Ian’s turn. He’s up again–this time to take Kaitlyn a note of apology. He kneels again, gets a cramp, so he stands back up. What he said is just not representative of who he is. Kaitlyn accepts and appreciates his apology.
Blooper time! Joe having to run off to take a leak after kissing her. Then Kaitlyn’s fear of birds comes into play with lots of scenes. What a freaky fear! Then Kaitlyn falling after telling Chris the dentist not to. Then the bug flying into her lip gloss. Then Kaitlyn turns around to see someone coming up at her with a bird mask; it’s Joe!
Chris H says Kaitlyn has done a fine job keeping her head up and making her own decisions through the whole experience.
Next week is “an ending like no other,” says Chris Harrison. Well, of course he does!
